Rates and Insurance

  • $200 for a 53-minute session
  • $300 for an 80-minute session

  • Your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits which could reduce the cost.
  • You can get a HIPAA secure estimate of your out of network benefits here.
  • I am out-of-network with all insurances. Your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits which could reduce the cost.
  • After paying my fee, you can submit an invoice called a “superbill” to your insurance for reimbursement according to your plan’s benefits. I will provide you with a superbill at the end of each month.
  • 53-minute sessions are reimbursed at a higher rate than 50 minute sessions. However, insurance will not provide additional reimbursement for session time beyond 53-minutes.
  • Insurance will only reimburse for online sessions conducted with both audio and video.

Yes. There are 3 ways to submit your claims:

  1. I can submit claims for you through a HIPAA compliant company called Mentaya. Mentaya charges 5% of my fee per claim ($10).
  2. You can submit your superbill to another HIPAA compliant company, Reimbursify, who will handle the rest of the claims process for $3-$4 per claim.
  3. I can provide you with a superbill which you can submit directly to your insurance for free.

You can get a HIPAA secure estimate of your out of network benefits here.

To verify this estimate, call the Behavioral Health or Member Services number on your insurance card and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient behavioral health teletherapy?
  • What is my remaining out-of-network deductible? Is it separate from my in-network deductible? When does my deductible reset each year
  • What percentage of the Allowable Amount will I be reimbursed after meeting my deductible?
  • What is the out-of-network Allowable Amount for teletherapy sessions with CPT code 90837? Will the full $200 cost of each session go towards meeting my deductible, or only the Allowable Amount?
  • Do I need a referral to see an out-of-network therapist?
  • If I want to submit superbills directly to my insurance, how do I submit them?

After the yearly out-of-network deductible is met, insurance will reimburse you a percentage of their “Allowable Amount” per session. Insurance plans don’t publish their Allowable Amount, but they often range from $100 to $200 for 53-minute individual sessions (CPT code 90837). For example, if your Allowable Amount is $150, and your insurance covers 80% of it, they will reimburse you $120.

You may have separate yearly deductibles for in-network and out-of-network costs. Some insurances may only credit their Allowable Amount for each session towards meeting your deductible rather than the full $200 cost of each session. For example, if you have a $300 deductible, and the Allowable Amount is $150, you would meet your out-of-network deductible after 2 sessions. You would then start getting reimbursements from your third session onwards until your yearly deductible resets.
